Don’t panic, but…it’s August. I. KNOW. I looked at my calendar this morning and thought ‘how in the he…ck did that happen?’ For those of you working on the July-June or June-May fiscal year, did you make it? If you’re reading this, I am happy to announce that YOU DID. Congratulations! Now that you’ve had a full 15 seconds to celebrate, let’s talk about grants management, back to school, summer is nearly over and another year is slipping away. I’m kidding. I mean, those things are true, but let’s not dwell for gods’ sakes. Fine. Sorry I brought it up.
ANYWAY. How are you managing grants in this fiscal year? Paper, digital calendar, grant management software? Or maybe you’re one of those renegade grant staff who use (are forced to use?) DRM software to manage grants. I have been a grants consultant for five years and I still haven’t found my “perfect” system to manage all clients under one “roof.” I love GrantHub and use it with most of my clients. But I have found it is much easier to maintain the system if each client has their own subscription versus having multiple clients under one (my) subscription).
How did you develop a system that is perfect for you? What lessons did you learn about yourself as a grant writer or your process? What methods will you take with you into FY19?
I hope you’ve hit the ground running and have much grant success this FY!
